Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Deep Dive

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Deep Dive

Join us on January 13-16, 10am - 3pm ET for the activity-based Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Deep Dive!

During this 4-day workshop participants will become familiar with the major required steps of this methodology, practice relevant skills, and consider the many decisions necessary for a successful comprehensive review and synthesis.

You are welcome to bring a systematic review and/or meta-analysis that your team is pursuing (or plans to pursue) to work on throughout the session. However, it is not required that you have a project (existing, or in mind) to participate.

Audience: Participants are expected to have a basic understanding of the systematic review process as outlined by the sections on our library guide (guides.lib.vt.edu/SRMA/). Affiliation with Virginia Tech is not required.

Access: The event will be held online via zoom. Participants will receive full recordings of only days during which they participate. Instruction-only recordings will be posted on our library guide (guides.lib.vt.edu/SRMA/help) later this year. Recordings from past years are available now. This workshop has a waitlist every year so please only sign up if you plan to participate.

Time: This hands-on workshop will take place on January 13-16, 10am - 3pm ET with a 1 hour lunch break from 12 - 1pm ET. You must be able to attend the first three days (January 13, 14, and 15) to participate. The fourth day (January 16) is optional for those interested in learning about meta-analyses.

Pre-workshop assignment: The week before the workshop, you will be asked to view a brief (~20 minute) video introduction to the Systematic Review process, the current (2020) PRISMA (prisma-statement.org) checklist, and 1 - 2 systematic review article(s). We provide this preliminary information so you can familiarize yourself with this type of research and are able to get the most out of the activities and discussions.

Credit: Upon completion of the workshop, participants recieve a Certificate of Completion. Virginia Tech affiliates will also have the option to apply these 12-16 hours toward PDN credit.

If this event is of interest to you but you are not familiar with the basics of systematic reviews or evidence synthesis, we encourage you to check out recordings from our Evidence Synthesis Basics Series on our Library Guide (guides.lib.vt.edu/SRMA/Help). If you are interested in other kinds of support, such as classroom instruction or group/individual consultation, please reach out to us directly at srconsultation-g@vt.edu.

If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, welcome! Please email library-event-accessibility@groups.office365.vt.edu at least 10 days prior to the event.
