Studying America's People: Accessing and Using the New Census Data Portal

Studying America's People: Accessing and Using the New Census Data Portal

Join Tyson Weister from the US Census Bureau to learn the basics of navigating data.census.gov, the tool for accessing U.S. Census Bureau data, including recently released data from the American Community Survey and the Economic Census. This training, hosted by a US Census Bureau trainer, provides guidance on using data.census.gov, including Single Search, Advanced Search, and mapping. Even longtime Census data users may consider this workshop, as the American Factfinder portal is set to cease operation in early 2020, leaving data.census.gov as a primary method for finding and downloading Census Bureau data.

This workshop is open to the public; you do not need to be affiliated with Virginia Tech to participate. The training will take place simultaneously at VT's Blacksburg (Newman Library 124) and Arlington (Foggy Bottom Room) campuses and streaming online via Zoom (link will be shared prior to workshop). Virginia Tech faculty can earn PDN credit by registering here.
