The Rights of Inventors: Constitution Day Series Kick-Off
"The rights of authors and inventors to their creations are the only rights specifically named, within limits, in the 1787 US Constitution. How has the constitutional right to patent protection operated in American society?
This first event will be a public presentation on Sept 17 -- Constitution Day -- about the legacy of one of Virginia’s most consequential inventors, Cyrus McCormick, whose mechanical reaper revolutionized American agriculture. The farm in Raphine where he designed and patented this and other machines is preserved as part of Virginia Tech’s Shenandoah Agricultural Research Center." Come hear about Cyrus and more from our line up of speakers including those from Virginia Tech and beyond!
In-person attendees will receive an inventor trading card from USPTO along with other edible and non-edible goodies. This is the first event in our six-part series including four workshops and a culminating poster showcase for undergraduate students to display their research.
Please register to receive a link if attending virtually and registrations are preferred for in-person attendees. If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, welcome! Please email library-event-accessibility@groups.office365.vt.edu at least 10 days prior to the event.
