Introduction to Trademarks

Introduction to Trademarks

Brought to you by Virginia Tech's Patent and Trademark Resource Center, this workshop is intended for anyone interested in learning more about trademarks, a form of intellectual property (IP) that is critical for protecting your brand. This introductory workshop will be especially helpful for those who are own or looking to start their own business.

Attendees will learn about the main types of trademarks (mark, dress, sound and more), including examples drawn from the food and beverage industry. This workshop will also cover how to get started with searching USPTO's Trademark Search System, a key step to make sure your trademark is distinct from others. The workshop will conclude with resources and tips on applying for trademarks.

** This workshop is being offered in a hybrid format with edible IP for in-person attendees (and yes, costumes are welcome). If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please email sarah.over@vt.edu at least 10 business days prior to the event.
