Python 102: Control Flow (Loops, Functions and Conditionals)
This hands-on workshop is designed for those with basic programming experience and will train learners to use three key tools for simplifying, clarifying and scaling programs for real-world applications in Python: loops, functions, and conditional tests.
The workshop is open to anyone, but learners should be familiar with programming in Python equivalent to the Python 101 workshop. You will need access to a Windows, Mac or Linux computer. The curriculum is based on episodes 5-8 of the Software Carpentry Programming with Python lesson.
Learning Outcomes:
-Identify key characteristics and advantages of object-oriented programming
-Practice navigating and utilizing the Jupyter Labs interface
-Use functions and assignment to create and manipulate common object types, including numbers, strings, arrays and lists in Python
-Perform simple statistical summaries and visualization on data arrays in Python
