Archival Adventures: Skylab, ISS, and Space Shuttles
It’s time to blast off into the past! This week we return to the James Dean Collection to explore the design and development of NASA's Skylab, the International Space Station, and the Space Shuttle. Dean played a key role in the creation of the NASA art program. He became the NASA director of films, publications and television, then founding director of the Fine Arts Program at NASA from 1961-1974, after which he served as the Curator of Art at the National Air and Space Museum. In this, our third visit to his collection, we’ll explore the history of the Apollo Program! Learn more about the collection here: https://edushare.ing/Ms2003061
Join our community collections archivist, Anthony Wright de Hernandez, for a livestream on Twitch! Every week we explore and discuss materials from Special Collections and University Archives covering topics including university history, NASA pioneers, architecture, science fiction, cooking, LGBTQ+ history, Black history, urban legends, and more. Recordings of previous streams are available on the Libraries' Youtube page.
