Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
Wikimedia’s gender trouble is well-documented. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity, however, is not. Content is skewed by the lack of female editors and articles about and of interest to women. This represents an alarming absence in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.
We’re expanding the number of Wikipedia entries on women, trans, and non-binary artists. You can help us by joining the Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, a community event in Newman Library at Virginia Tech to update and add articles on Wikipedia.
We will provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian and reference materials about the artists.
We will meet at 12 noon on March 28, 2025, in Virginia Tech’s Newman Library, Room 120. This is a computer lab, so you can use one of the lab’s computers or bring your laptop. We will provide resources related to art and architecture at Virginia Tech, or you can come with your favorite women, non-binary, and trans artists!
If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please contact jss3838@vt.edu as soon as possible.
