Finding and Reusing Existing Survey Data (Remoting Your Research Series)

Finding and Reusing Existing Survey Data (Remoting Your Research Series)

Whether you're looking for reliable representative surveys of national/international populations, pilot surveys of specific groups, or a way to make do without in-person data collection you had planned before the pandemic, this workshop can help you find the right survey data, get access, and use it effectively.

This workshop will cover the advantages and disadvantages of secondary survey data, major data repositories, how to find data that fits your needs, and tips on avoiding common pitfalls with secondary data. The workshop is interactive; you will have a chance to look for data that might be useful to you and get collaborative feedback on its potential strengths and drawbacks.

This is an introductory workshop: you do not need experience, data, or a project to participate. Anyone can register, but you will need a VT login to access some data sources.

All workshops in the Data Education Series are available online via Zoom; links will be sent when you register.

If you need credit for this workshop through the PDN for the computer refresh program, please register here and at https://profdev.tlos.vt.edu/.

If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please email library-event-accessibility-g@vt.edu during regular business hours at least 10 business days prior to the event.
