What's in the 2020 Census and other data from the US Census Bureau and how can they affect lives around the US? Join Demographer and Virginia Projections Program Manager Shonel Sen and Virginia Tech Social Science Data Consultant Nathaniel Porter to find out.

This workshop digs into how Census data and the US population are changing, with a focus on data and impacts related to historically marginalized groups. It is open to anyone and will focus on translating sometimes arcane research methodology and findings to help non-specialists better understand Census data and its impact.

We'll address critical questions like these:

• Why does the Census keep changing how it asks about race and ethnicity?
• Did the threat of a citizenship question or the Covid pandemic affect who was included in the 2020 Census?
• Does the Census represent small minorities and rural areas fairly?
• How may the Census 2020 numbers affect public policy on equity and inclusion?
• What do data users need to know about accuracy and reliability of the Census 2020 data products?
