Inclusive Data: Finding and Using US Census Bureau Data

Inclusive Data: Finding and Using US Census Bureau Data

The US Census and American Community Survey are both among the largest collections of US survey data, providing unparalleled detail about small racial groups, sparsely populated areas, and more.

This workshop provides interactive demonstrations and activities using the US Census data portal to answer real questions using recent data from the Census Bureau, as well as discussing challenges of working with Census data and alternative ways to access and interact with the data. Laptops will be available for those who do not bring their own.

This workshop is part of a new series on Inclusive Data - find information on the other workshop (10/20, 10-11am) on the Library Calendar and stream the "Data Represent!" panel on inclusive Census data on Twitch (10/22, 3-5pm). You can join us on Zoom or in person in Newman Library on the Virginia Tech Blacksburg campus. For questions or additional information, please contact Data Education Coordinator Nathaniel Porter (ndporter@vt.edu).
