Incorporating Media into Digital Scholarship with Knight Lab Tools
In this workshop, we will talk about five tools from Knight Lab [https://knightlab.northwestern.edu/projects/] (Timeline, Storyline, StoryMap, Soundcite, and Juxtapose). These tools can be integrated into existing web resources, including websites, digital exhibit platforms, and just about anything that can handled embed html code. We will talk about how to use each of these tools to create content and how you can incorporate them into digital scholarship. The last 45 min or so of this workshop will be devoted to Q&A and an opportunity to play/explore these tools with instructor supplied materials (or your own files if you would like to bring images, audio, or event/date/location data) and help. Note: While we will be using it as one of our sample platforms for digital scholarship, you do not need to have prior knowledge of Omeka to attend this workshop.
Participants will learn how to create content using Knight Lab digital tools and incorporate content into their digital scholarship.
Laptops will be available for use in the on-site location, if you would like to use one! Note: If you are bringing files from your own project to use, please make sure you have them on a USB drive or in the cloud.
Please note: (1) This event will be held in hybrid format in Torg 3310 and online via Zoom.
