Python 201: Basic Data Analysis with Pandas

Python 201: Basic Data Analysis with Pandas

The Pandas package provides critical and widely-used infrastructure for data in Python, including the dataframe object type. This hands-on workshop provides learners training and practice in dataframe creation and manipulation, basic statistics (Chi-squared, T-tests, Correlation and Linear Regression), and exploratory data analysis in Python using real-world data with Pandas and other packages.

The workshop is open to anyone, but learners should be familiar with basic programming in Python equivalent to the Python 101 workshop. You will need access to a Windows, Mac or Linux computer.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Find, import and use packages to expand Python’s functionality
  • Create, summarize, and manipulate Pandas dataframes
  • Practice exploratory data analysis and statistics in Python
  • Identify functions needed to perform additional analyses
  • Use Python documentation to understand and interpret function inputs and outputs
