Reproducible Data Cleaning in OpenRefine

Reproducible Data Cleaning in OpenRefine

Learn how OpenRefine, a free and open source tool, can make the process of cleaning data from spreadsheets, surveys and other sources both faster and more transparent. This workshop teaches learners how to import data into OpenRefine and use faceting, filtering, clustering and transformations to identify and correct errors and improve the usability of datafiles. Additionally, learners will practice saving reproducible and reusable workflows and exporting data for use in other software.
No experience is necessary, but learners will need access to a computer throughout the workshop. This workshop is based on the Library Carpentry OpenRefine lesson and is recommended for anyone who frequently works with messy text or spreadsheet data.

If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please email library-event-accessibility-g@vt.edu at least 10 business days prior to the event.
