Archival Adventures: Decades of Advertising in Pulp Magazines
Let's engage in historical capitalism! On this week’s continuation of our exploration into the Heron Speculative Fiction Collection, ArchivistAnthony is going to be looking at advertisements. Speculative fiction magazines, due to their popularity, were prime real estate for corporations to advertise their products. Will we see advertisements for new batteries for our flashlights, or will we find our perfect razor? Along the way we might even dive into some of the stories that are in the magazines. Tune in to see if anything is worth paying for a stamp and ordering in a time machine. See what magazines we'll be exploring: bit.ly/ArchivalAdventures157
Join our community collections archivist, Anthony Wright de Hernandez, for a livestream on Twitch! Every week we explore and discuss materials from Special Collections and University Archives covering topics including university history, NASA pioneers, architecture, science fiction, cooking, LGBTQ+ history, Black history, urban legends, and more. Recordings of previous streams are available on the Libaries' Youtube page.
If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please email library-event-accessibility-g@vt.edu at least 10 business days prior to the event.
