Archival Adventures - Sheffield vs. Ellison: What is Science Fiction?
It's time for an adventure! This week we’re taking a look at a late-1970s debate from the pages of Thrust magazine between authors Charles Sheffield and Harlan Ellison. Their debate centers on one key question: What is Science Fiction? Ellison claims not to be a science fiction author and Sheffield debates this assertion. It’s a fascinating exchange and may well take more than one episode to cover.
Join our community collections archivist, Anthony Wright de Hernandez, for a livestream on Twitch! Every week we explore and discuss materials from Special Collections and University Archives covering topics including university history, NASA pioneers, architecture, science fiction, cooking, LGBTQ+ history, Black history, urban legends, and more. Recordings of previous streams are available on the Libaries' Youtube page.
