Archival Adventures: He from Procyon
It's time for an adventure! This week we return to author and sci-fi historian Sam Moskowitz's list of sci-fi classics from his 1940 letter to the editor of Comet. Today's tale: "He from Procyon" by Nat Schachner, the fifth story deemed a classic in the letter. Schachner was an American writer, historian, attorney, and advocate for the development of rockets and space travel. His story “He from Procyon” is an early example of the type named by F. Orlin Tremaine as “thought-variant” stories. This term described an idea-centered story rather than an action-focused story.
