Archival Adventures: Grigg & Carnochan FORTRAN Films

Archival Adventures: Grigg & Carnochan FORTRAN Films

It's time for an adventure! This week we're heading back to the late 1960s as we explore the Grigg & Carnochan FORTRAN Films. The collection contains documents related to the production and dissemination of George Grigg's and John Carnochan's computer-animated film, produced while students at Virginia Tech from 1969 through 1970 using FORTRAN. Grigg went on to become an architect and Carnochan became a film editor at Disney. You can learn more about the collection in the finding aid here: https://ead.lib.virginia.edu/vivaxtf/view?docId=oai/lib.vt.edu/repositories/2/resources/3177.oai_ead.xml

Join our community collections archivist, Anthony Wright de Hernandez, for a livestream on Twitch! Every week we explore and discuss materials from Special Collections and University Archives covering topics including university history, NASA pioneers, architecture, science fiction, cooking, LGBTQ+ history, Black history, urban legends, and more. Recordings of previous streams are available on the Libaries' Youtube page.
