Archival Adventures: Virginia Tech LGBTQ+ History
It's time for an adventure! This week ArchivistAnthony welcomes special guest ArchivesAssistantSterling to explore LGBTQ+ history at Virginia Tech. Being in Southwest Virginia, and somewhat cut off from urban areas, as well as being a university that was a military institute in its humble beginnings, Virginia Tech is not a place one might imagine the LGBTQ+ community coming together and forming clubs. We’ll be delving into items from the LGBT Caucus record group, Records of HokiePRIDE, and the Mark A. Weber Papers. Weber was a student at Virginia Tech who continuously fought for a safe place on campus in Blacksburg, Virginia. Check out the list of items we will be exploring: https://bit.ly/ArchivalAdventures147
Join our community collections archivist, Anthony Wright de Hernandez, for a livestream on Twitch! Every week we explore and discuss materials from Special Collections and University Archives covering topics including university history, NASA pioneers, architecture, science fiction, cooking, LGBTQ+ history, Black history, urban legends, and more. Recordings of previous streams are available on the Libaries' Youtube page.
If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please email library-event-accessibility-g@vt.edu at least 10 business days prior to the event.
