Archival Adventures: American Egg Board Collection

Archival Adventures: American Egg Board Collection

It's time for an adventure! This week: We're heading back to the late 20th Century as we explore the American Egg Board (AEB) collection. The AEB was formed in 1975 after egg farmers voted to approve its creation. The board is a national commodity checkoff organization best known for its "The Incredible, Edible Egg" marketing campaign. According to The National Agricultural Law Center, "checkoff programs – also referred to as research and promotion programs – promote and provide research and information for a particular agricultural commodity without reference to specific producers or brands." You can learn a bit about the collection in the finding aid here: https://ead.lib.virginia.edu/vivaxtf/view?docId=oai/lib.vt.edu/repositories/2/resources/2543.oai_ead.xml.

Join our community collections archivist, Anthony Wright de Hernandez, for a livestream on Twitch! Every week we explore and discuss materials from Special Collections and University Archives covering topics including university history, NASA pioneers, architecture, science fiction, cooking, LGBTQ+ history, Black history, urban legends, and more. Recordings of previous streams are available on the Libaries' YouTube page.
