Archival Adventures: Fuller's World Game

Archival Adventures: Fuller's World Game

It's time for an adventure! Time for an adventure! Join ArchivistAnthony this week as they explore Buckminster Fuller’s World Game with a look at the Don Fusaro Collection on R. Buckminster Fuller. Modeled after war games at the U.S. Navy War College, the World Game was envisioned as a “great logistics game” and was originally titled the “World Peace Game.” It was intended as a tool for finding solutions to hunger, illiteracy, lack of health care, environmental degradation, and selfish thinking at a global level, avoiding the “local focus hocus pocus” results achieved by focusing on the city, state, or national level when addressing problems. Fusaro was a fan of Fuller’s work and a volunteer for the World Game project during the 1960s.

Join our community collections archivist, Anthony Wright de Hernandez, for a livestream on Twitch! Every week we explore and discuss materials from Special Collections and University Archives covering topics including university history, NASA pioneers, architecture, science fiction, cooking, LGBTQ+ history, Black history, urban legends, and more. Recordings of previous streams are available on the Libaries' Youtube page.
