Archival Adventures: NASA w/guest Archivist Kat!

It's time for an adventure! This week, Archivist Kat is joining Archivist Anthony for some NASA history with the James J. Avitabile Papers. Avitabile was a United States Air Force officer from East Haven, Connecticut, who served as an Atlas E operations launch officer and an astronaut mission operations instructor at NASA’s Spacecraft Simulator Complex. This complex was responsible for astronaut mission flight training at Cape Canaveral/Kennedy from 1957 to 1967. Avitabile also served in the Air Force’s Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) Program Office, was an airborne test director for the E-3A Airborne Warnings and Control Systems (AWACS) Aircraft, and was activation director for the AWACS Operating Base.
