Archival Adventures: Bradbury's "Small Assassin"

Archival Adventures: Bradbury's "Small Assassin"

It's time for an adventure! This week, the tension builds until we’re on the edge of our seat as we look at Ray Bradbury’s The Small Assassin from the Spring 1951 issue of Suspense Magazine. Originally published in Dime Mystery Magazine in November 1946, The Small Assassin is a horror-anthology that reads like a tragic tale of postpartum depression until it becomes clear that the new mother is right: her baby does want to murder her. We’ll take a look at the story, its history, and its influences on popular culture.

Join our community collections archivist, Anthony Wright de Hernandez, for a livestream on Twitch! Every week we explore and discuss materials from Special Collections and University Archives covering topics including university history, NASA pioneers, architecture, science fiction, cooking, LGBTQ+ history, Black history, urban legends, and more. Recordings of previous streams are available on the Libaries' Youtube page.

If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please email library-event-accessibility-g@vt.edu at least 10 business days prior to the event.
